Your wedding is one of the most beautiful and memorable events in your life. We want to help you create this wonderful occasion. - Who may be married at the United Methodist Church of Palm Springs?
The United Methodist Church of Palm Springs is open to any couple who wishes to affirm their commitment to one another in a service of Christian Marriage.
- How many people can the sanctuary accommodate?
Our sanctuary holds up to 250 people and can also be used effectively for intimate services.
- May photographs be taken during the ceremony?
The minister will designate a moment during the service when guests may take a photo, only if the bride and groom are amenable to the idea. Otherwise photos are taken only by professionals designated by the couple.
- May the guests throw rice after the ceremony?
To insure the safety of your guests, throwing rice, confetti, birdseed, etc. is not permitted either in the buildings or outside.
- Are alcohol and smoking permitted on church grounds?
Alcohol or drugs are NOT permitted on church premises, nor are they to be consumed before the ceremony. Smoking is prohibited in all church buildings. Smoking is allowed outdoors only in designated areas.
- Can we use a minister from another church?
The officiating minister shall be the appointed pastor of the United Methodist Church of Palm Springs. If you wish to have another minister preside over your service it must be arranged through a personal invitation by our minister.
- Do I really need to utilize the wedding hostess?
Even informal weddings limited to 40 guests or less benefit from the assistance of the wedding hostess. Our wedding hostess helps coordinate the decorations, photography, flowers, music and rounding up the wedding party for the ceremony. The wedding hostess does the worrying for you so you can enjoy your day.
- Does the church provide any decorations?
Decorations are the responsibility of the bride and groom and should be coordinated through the wedding hostess.
- Does the church have a reception area?
Our Fellowship Hall can accommodate up to 100 people at tables, has a full kitchen and access to a rose garden patio area. Our Walker Smith Building has a small kitchenette and can accommodate up to 50 people at tables. (Alcohol is not allowed on the premises.)
- Is premarital counseling required?
At least one meeting with the minister prior to the rehearsal and ceremony is required. At this meeting you may ask the minister any questions you may have and discuss the order of the ceremony. Other, more in depth, sessions are encouraged but not required.
- How much will it all cost?
Fees vary depending on what facilities and services you use. The wedding fees list is part of this packet of material.
- We've decided to get married at the United Methodist Church of Palm Springs, what do we do now?
First, call the church office at (760) 327-5931 to see if your preferred date is available. Your calendar date will NOT be secure until the church receives a $100 deposit accompanied by the completed Wedding Information Sheet. The deposit will go towards your total wedding fee. The church secretary will give a copy of your information sheet to the wedding hostess who will contact you. It is your responsibility to keep the wedding hostess informed about your plans and needs. You will also need to arrange your premarital counseling/planning sessions with the minister through the church office.
